Other ways to get involved if you are:
- Offer your time and talents to volunteering at with community violence prevention efforts
- Participate in local roundtables regarding community violence prevention
- Attend and support community violence prevention events
- Be a mentor to younger siblings and other youth, sharing strategies to create peace and avoid violence
- Speak to school administrators and advocate for National Youth Violence Prevention Week activities and other peace initiatives, and send press releases about your events
- Design and hang posters with inspirational peace messages throughout your school
- Participate as the youth voice in local violence prevention events and roundtables
- Speak to your local delegation and leadership about your concerns and ideas regarding youth violence and its prevention
- Create open communication about violence prevention and strategies for peace with your children
- Attend community violence prevention events with your family and process the information learned with your children
- Encourage your schools, PTO’s, congregation, neighborhood associations, legislators, and local media to become involved in community violence prevention efforts
- Inform your employer about local violence prevention efforts and advocate for sponsorship support
- Offer your time and talents to volunteering at community violence prevention events and efforts
- Partner with local school(s) for National Youth Violence Prevention Week activities or other events
- Host a violence prevention youth training or workshop
- Sign up for a table at community violence prevention events
- Host or participate in round table discussions regarding youth violence prevention
- Adopt a local school to provide educational resources and support surrounding peace for our youth
- Promote staff to display inspirational messages of peace throughout your organization
- Highlight violence prevention efforts on your organization’s website, Facebook page, newsletter, and other forms of communication
- Organize daily activities for National Youth Violence Prevention Week
- Promote teachers and staff to display inspirational messages of peace throughout the school
- Initiate a roundtable at your school to discuss violence prevention efforts in the school that is hosted by youth leaders and attended by school and community advocates
- Highlight violence prevention activities in your school on your webpage and cable access television shows, in your newsletters, and through other forms of parent and community communication
- Coordinate violence prevention efforts with various other schools, such as creating a peace mural or co-hosting a peace march
- Designate a highly visible bulletin board in the school as a place to showcase violence prevention efforts in the school and messages of peace
- Create violence prevention-related contests for students, such as poster or essay competitions
- Promote violence prevention messages and activities in your school’s newspaper and on the school’s website
- Sponsor the creation of a neighborhood peace mural
- Host a neighborhood peace march
- Create outreach nights in which neighborhood leaders can reach out to youth
- Host or participate in round table discussions regarding youth violence prevention
- Sign up for a table at community violence prevention events to highlight your association’s work
- Invite leaders in violence prevention from the community to speak at your meetings
- Participate in Fall River violence prevention events and meetings
- Discuss effective violence prevention strategies with members of your congregation and encourage them to continue this discussion with their children
- Share violence prevention messages in your emails, bulletins, and other forms of communication with your congregation and the public
